The panel is holding its third meeting on Thursday. The state's goal is to bring in $60 million to help close a $295 million budget gap. The eight-member commission, established earlier this year when the budget was passed, has to deliver its first report by Oct. 1, and its final report by Jan. 1, 2011.

The Consolidated Federal Funds report said more than $27 billion was spent in New Mexico in 2009. That's an increase of 15 percent from 2008 and is partly because of an economic stimulus package.
